Still Waiting For Someday? Someday Is Here.

“Someday, I’m just going to buy a plane ticket and GO.”

“Someday, I’ll get around to writing that book.”

“Someday, my to-do list is going to be manageable, and I’ll do (fill in the blank) then.”

Sound familiar?

Someday is elusive, but it keeps the dream alive. Sort of.

Someday let’s us off the hook today, because, you know, you have the intention of doing that thing. Someday. When you get around to it.

Someday is the child of Procrastination, and we glorify it.

I work with clients, primarily women, who are sick and tired of waiting for Someday.

They have put off their dreams, their plans, their secret yearnings, the call of their hearts, for too long. By the time they show up to our first conversation, they’ve built a future life on that word. It’s been a placeholder for as long as they can remember. When they make the call, they are ready to pull out a calendar to figure out exactly when they can schedule Someday.

And here’s my secret, that I share with them, and now I’ll share with you.

Someday is Today.

But in order to make that Truth work for you, you have to want it more than you want your excuses.

You have to be so tired of living a life built around eventually, hopefully, maybe getting SOME of what you want that you’re willing to shake things up. You have to be ready to make the mind shifts that take you out of a vague potential future, and into the reality of a Present Moment that allows you more freedom, more self empowerment, more embodiment, than you could have imagined when you sighed, “Someday, I’ll actually live my life.”

If you’re wondering if it can be this simple, I’m here to tell you that it is.

I’m not here to tell you that it’s EASY. (But it’s not that hard, either. I promise. It really doesn’t have to be.)

Get out your red marker and your calendar. Yeah – I mean real pen and paper. Circle today’s date in wide, concentric circles and declare, “I officially declare that today is Someday.”

Write down every Someday goal and dream that you can think of,  and as you do, take a deep breath and close your eyes before you move on to the next one.

Really feel that Someday dream.

Is it still for you?

Does it feel delicious?

Can you taste it?

Do you want it?

Thumb forward in that calendar and declare some other very specific days as “Someday.” Then put those dreams and goals on a real, honest-to-goodness date on the calendar.

Lean into the desire that you feel for these Someday goals. And if you have to, borrow the energy of your frustration in not having achieved them yet. It’s all fuel.

Get fired up.

Know when you need help, and seek it out. You are the expert in what you want, but part of your procrastination is probably rooted in not knowing how to get where you want to go. Ask for help. It can be from a loved one, or a teacher or mentor, or a kickass coach. Go to your local library and ask a Librarian for some guidance. Google.

Asking for help is fuel, too. It not only gives you the information you need – it also creates lots of opportunities for you to speak that dream into existence. Every time you state what you want, it becomes more real to you. You get that much closer, just by speaking it.

You’re gonna manifest the heck out of those Somedays.

Starting today.
