Recently, I had a voicemail from a client, who was calling to set up a Reiki session. In response to my voicemail message, which concludes with me saying that I am here to help create the ideal life, she said, “I already have my ideal life. I just need some energy adjustment.”
That really struck me, and I’ve been chewing on it ever since.
First, let me say that I’m so happy that her life is exactly what she wants it to be (that’s always FANTASTIC to hear!) What a blessing, to have all of the big parts of life’s puzzle fall into place in a way that makes you feel happy and secure.
So, if you, too, are pretty happy with how life is going, you may feel like life coaching isn’t going to be necessary or beneficial for you.
I think that this is actually a perfect time and circumstance to bring coaching into your life.
Think about it – if you achieve a goal, you generally first celebrate, and then, settle into living with the achievement. You feel good about your choices and actions, and it brings you happiness.
But what then? What do you do, when you’ve achieved everything you ever wanted?
What if you’re middle aged, and you’ve checked off everything on your big Life To-Do List? Will you stop dreaming of new things to experience or achieve?
I have clients who, on first look, don’t really look like they need to have a life coach, either. They are educated, have successful careers, and are financially comfortable. And yet, they are here working with me, because they know that there are more things that they want to achieve, and they need help figuring out how to get there.
Super successful people very often have been leaping pre-set hurdles and hitting timed goals for years: finish high school, then college, then graduate school (sometimes with multiple graduate degrees), all at the head of the class; get a good job, wait 2-3 years, and go get a better job, with higher pay, then get a promotion with more pay and responsibility; maybe get married and start a family, buy a house (and then a better house, and then an even better house); trade the old car in for a new car; educate the children in good schools and make sure that they can attend all the after-school activities. Well, you get the picture. It’s the American Ideal Way of Life.
But what happens when you go as far with all of that as you can?
If you’re like my clients, you start thinking about all of the stuff that you wish you could do, or had done.
This is the perfect time to start re-visiting dreams, deepening relationships, and really tuning into all of the things you would do, if you had the time and energy.
Here’s what I’ve learned, in working with these clients: they inevitably feel more energetic when they start opening up to all of the other things that will make their lives even richer and more fulfilling. They sleep better, work more efficiently, and have greater focus for work and family.
Why is that? Because they are re-filling their cup.
We all need to take time out for ourselves – particularly those of us with many responsibilities. And yet, taking care of ourselves is usually at the bottom of the to-do list.
To be even more successful, rested, energetic, inspired, and HAPPY (can there be too much of any of those things?), re-kindle your passion for new experiences and goals. Tap into what your heart and soul want to do, and take time out every day to invest in bringing those things into your life. You’ll be a better spouse, parent, employee, boss, sibling, and friend.
If you’re trying to figure out how in the world you can fit that into your life, then let’s about coaching. Your Discovery session is free, and with no obligation.
And in the meanwhile, how about some Reiki, to help boost your energy so that you can get started? One hour Reiki sessions are priced at “Treat” level right through Halloween – $40.00 (50% off my regular rates). Come get your energy adjustment. 😀
